The mold industry is a fundamental industry in the manufacturing sector, serving as the basis for the transformation of technological achievements. Meanwhile, it is also an important field in high-tech industries, known as the "magnetic industry" that "turns iron into gold" in industrially developed countries such as Europe and the United States.
In the previous "Understanding the Manufacturing of Allmerit" series of articles, three different types of Allmerit's electroplating equipment were introduced. The high precision of their electroplating equipment is inseparable from the perfect fit of each supporting mold and the precise craftsmanship of the mold itself. For these three different types of equipment, Allmerit has researched and designed three electroplating molds: the platen mold, the round plate mold, and the tank chain mold. All of them are made of PEEK material, which is resistant to acids, alkalis, and high temperatures. They feature high precision in the electroplating area, high electroplating efficiency, and the mold size can be customized according to specific needs.
Platen Mold

This mold is used with the platen-type selective electroplating equipment, enabling selective silver plating (spot plating, ring plating) on the functional areas of high-density IC/QFN lead frames.
The main body of the mold is made of high-density glass fiber, with dimensions typically measuring 380*158*30mm. It can accommodate product wafers with a width of up to 100mm and a length of up to 300mm. Customization of the mold is possible based on the specific lead frame products of the customer.

The platen pressing mold is suitable for high-density QFN lead frames, and the plating types include Spot Plating, Ring Plating, and Double Ring Plating.
Stable batch production guarantees an electroplating accuracy of ±0.075mm (with the ultimate accuracy reaching ±0.0635mm).

The platen plating equipment is suitable for both continuous plating and short-sized intermittent sheet-type individual plating. It features high precision plating range, low mold cost, wide application, high flexibility of the device, and easy debugging.
Disk mold

This mold is used in conjunction with a rotary disk selective plating machine to achieve selective silver plating (spot plating, ring plating, strip plating) in the functional area of IC lead frames.
The mold body is made of PEEK, and the RTV silicone (granule) mold comes in three diameters: 254mm/360mm/480mm. It is suitable for products with a width of 100mm, and can be customized specifically according to the customer's lead frame products.
The accuracy of selective plating is 0.075mm.

The rotary disk mold was developed to meet the requirements of selective silver plating for multi-row and multi-unit lead frames, and it addresses the issue of excessive difference in coating thickness between the middle and edge parts of wide-material lead frames. During the plating process, it provides precise positioning to ensure that the product remains undeformed, the selected plating area is precise, the thickness is uniform, there is minimal side leakage, and the production speed is fast.
Tank Chain Mold

This equipment is used in conjunction with a tank chain selective plating machine to achieve selective silver plating (spot plating, ring plating, strip plating) in the functional area of IC lead frames.
The mold body is made of high-density glass fiber, and the operating length of the RTV silicone mold is 3000mm. It is suitable for products with a width range of 30 to 100mm, and can be customized specifically according to the customer's lead frame products.
The accuracy of selective plating is ±0.075mm (Y-direction) and ±0.1mm (X-direction).

The tank chain plating mode is suitable for all series of IC lead frame products, especially suitable for mass production of SOP, PLCC, QFP, TQFP, TSSOP, SOT, SOM, DIP, PDIP, TO, and other product types with larger pitches.
It is not just our equipment and molds that fit perfectly, but also Aotemet's design philosophy and your high-standard production requirements.
